Dr Nicole Whitworth, FHEA, FRSA

I am a versatile multidisciplinary academic leader, researcher, and educator, working in phonetics, linguistics and data science. I have worked across a broad range of subject areas including Allied Health, Social Sciences, Humanities and Education. I have wide experience of all aspects of Higher Education including change management, strategic development, and strategy implementation. I have been a member of many cross-university panels and boards over the span of my academic career and have a detailed understanding of the workings of Higher Education.

My academic background is in linguistics and phonetics. I hold a PhD in Bilingual Acquisition of Speech from the University of Leeds and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and of the Royal Society of the Arts. I am  the treasurer of the British Association for Academic Phoneticians (BAAP). I specialise in child language acquisition, multilingualism, accents, and speech analysis. With more than 20 years of experience of teaching online and face-to-face, I am an experienced teacher of research methodology, phonetics and linguistics.

I am currently formalising my more technical knowledge and skills in statistics, programming and artificial intelligence by studying for an MSc in Data Science. I am also available to teach phonetics, linguistics, and research methods across the UK. To find out more, please browse these web pages and do not hesitate to contact me.
